Zynga Reveals Details Of Social Gaming Platform, New Mobile Versions Of Popular Games
At its Zynga Unleashed event Tuesday — its first press event at its new San Francisco headquarters — Zynga made several announcements related to its social gaming platforms. The company offered a preview of its new social games service Project Z, revealed which 3 HTML5-based games are launching on Facebook‘s mobile apps website soon and gave a preview of “Dream Zoo,” a new mobile game that will be released in the near future.
Project Z will allow you to connect with other gamers who are playing the same game at the same time as you through Facebook Connect. More details about the browser-based service will be revealed in the future ahead of the launch of Project Z, but you can reserve your gamer identity tag — your “zTag” — now from the Zynga website.
The company revealed that it is launching mobile Web-based versions of 3 of its most popular games on Facebook’s new mobile website soon. Those games are “Zynga Poker Mobile Web,” “Words With Friends HTML5” and “FarmVille Express.” All 3 have been developed using HTML5 technology, meaning that the games offer faster load times, smoother gameplay and prompt reactions to your in-game actions. The company claims that these are the first large-scale games to be built using HTML5 technology.
Meanwhile, Zynga offered some details of “Dream Zoo,” the next addition to its suite of mobile games, which includes “Words With Friends,” “Hanging With Friends” and “CityVille Hometown.” “Dream Zoo” will let you build a zoo and add some of the world’s most exotic animals to it. You’ll find creatures including green elephants,
polka-dot flamingos and rainbow giraffes. “Dream Zoo” will offer you the chance to connect with your friends in order to care for each other’s animals and visit each other’s zoos. The game will soon be available for iOS devices before launching on the Android platform.
Zynga also revealed some of its latest social gaming statistics. The company how has 232 million monthly active users and 60 million daily active users, who play Zynga games for more than 2 billion minutes every day. There are 4 billion neighbor connections across the suite of games, while 416 million social actions are carried out every day on the network.
Since filing its S-1 paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for its IPO in July, the company has launched PrivacyVille (a tutorial to make its privacy policy easier to understand), “Adventure World” and “Mafia Wars 2,” while it has brought popular mobile game “Words With Friends” to Facebook.
