INFOGRAPHIC: The Lifespan Of A Web Page On StumbleUpon

When a Web page is added to StumbleUpon, it may start to receive a ton of traffic. In fact, StumbleUpon is responsible for as much as half of all social media traffic referrals to websites in the U.S., far more than the likes of Facebook, Reddit and Twitter. However, how does the amount of engagement that StumbleUpon provides Web pages with change over time?

An infographic published by the social discovery service shows that,
24 hours after a popular link is first shared, it will receive around 83 percent more stumbles, compared with
5 percent more Facebook Likes and no new retweets. Meanwhile, the half-life of a link (the time it takes to reach the point where a link has generated half the engagement it will ever receive) is far longer on StumbleUpon than on Facebook and Twitter. According to a recent bit.ly study, the half-life of links shared on Facebook and Twitter is around 3 hours. However, the StumbleUpon half-life for links is 400 hours, on average.

StumbleUpon, which recently hit 20 million users, raised $17 million in funding in March and is now seeing more than 1 billion stumbles per month.
