INFOGRAPHIC: Interesting Stats About Facebook, Twitter And More
Social media is something that most of us use every day, but if you look at the networks we log in to, you’ll notice that most of us log in to one of the big 4 – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Google+. These social networks are some of the most popular, fastest growing and most culturally relevant networks on the Web and it is almost hard to think that less than 10 years ago, none of this existed.
One Lily published this infographic outlining some interesting facts about 4 of the most popular social networks. Facebook is by far the most widely used with over 800 million monthly active users. Twitter falls in second with 200 million users, followed by LinkedIn’s 115 million and Google+’s 50 million.
According to the infographic, Facebook has an enormously active user base. Over half of users log on daily and over 200 billion posts are Liked and commented on per day. The average user has 130 friends and is connected to 80 pages, groups and events. Twitter, which has a significantly smaller user base, still sees a lot of action. On average 460,000 new accounts are created each day and 1 billion tweets are sent each week. LinkedIn, the third most popular social network, has received 140 million in revenue and is used by 69 of the Fortune 100 companies.
Google+ is still growing and hasn’t seen anywhere near the amount of popularity and success as the other networks listed. The most popular occupation on the service is a Google+ engineer, though ironically, the most popular user is Mark Zuckerberg. I expect this will change as more users adopt the service.
