GetGlue Releases Stats On Top Fall TV Shows, Big Bang Theory Receives Most Check-ins
In September GetGlue partnered with Entertainment Weekly and gave us a list of the most anticipated fall TV shows which included the New Girl, the X Factor and Ringer among others. Now that the fall TV season is in full swing, the entertainment check-in service has released an interesting set of stats about which shows had a booming viewership and which ones sunk to the bottom of the charts.
This September, the Big Bang Theory returned to CBS and received 208,217 check-ins from GetGlue users overall, making it the top program for that month. True Blood, which set a check-in record in June with its Season 4 premiere, fell in second with 123,599 check-ins. Glee and Doctor Who were third and fourth place respectively and the long-running program Supernatural fell in fifth with under 100,000 check-ins.
This fall a great deal of shows aired for the first time and GetGlue measured the check-ins to see which shows’ premiere was the most anticipated. New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel, received the top spot with 20,278 check-ins and Terra Nova fell in second with 19,332. Heart of Dixie, which premiered on the CW, saw the least amount of check-ins in the top ten with only 8,626.
As far as returning shows go, the Big Bang Theory topped the charts with its premiere and received 32,554 check-ins, followed by the premiere of Glee on FOX with 27,052. Dancing With The Stars came in third place and Grey’s Anatomy was fourth with each receiving just under 20,000 check-ins.
Just because new shows received a lot of check-ins on their premiere doesn’t mean their popularity will withstand an entire season. GetGlue plans to release these statistics each month so that users can see how viewership changes among the most popular TV shows.
