GetGlue Launches New Features, Have Real-time Conversation Around A Topic
Social entertainment check-in service GetGlue has rolled out several new features on its website, including the ability to have conversations in real-time, the option to share your check-ins to Tumblr and widgets to display your check-ins and stickers.
The real-time conversation feature will allow you to discuss a topic with your friends so you can talk about what just happened in the big game you’re all watching; the latest performance on “The X Factor;” or a major world news event as more details are revealed. You’ll now be able to talk about all of those things and many others with your friends and other people who have checked-in to a topic in real-time through the GetGlue Conversation experience.
The Conversation feature, which you can access from the GetGlue home page by clicking the Conversation tab at the top of the stream, shows all comments from your friends and the most interesting comments from other fans. It shows you filtered tweets too, so you don’t have to visit Twitter to find out what’s being talked about there: GetGlue is trying to centralize the conversation around a topic. As more interesting comments are posted, you’ll receive a notification to let you know the conversation has been updated. You’ll have the option of voting on comments and replying to comments posted by others. You can reply to tweets too.
GetGlue now lets you share your check-ins on Tumblr. Along with sharing to Facebook and Twitter, you now have the option of letting your Tumblr followers know about your GetGlue check-ins. You can connect your Tumblr account by checking the Tumblr box beneath the check-in box. When you share your check-in to Tumblr for the first time, you’ll be prompted to sign in to Tumblr and connect your account to GetGlue. If you have more than one Tumblr blog, you’ll be asked to select the one you want GetGlue to post to.
Each Tumblr post will feature your comment and the number of people that are also checked-in to the topic.
Meanwhile, GetGlue has launched 2 new widgets that give you another way of sharing your check-ins and stickers. The check-in and sticker widgets can be embedded on Tumblr, Blogger, WordPress or any other type of blog or website. The widgets are automatically updated to display your most recent GetGlue activity.
The check-in widget displays in-depth details of your most recent check-in, along with a grid view of other things you’ve checked into recently. The sticker widget, meanwhile, displays 9 stickers you’ve recently unlocked. Both widgets link to your GetGlue profile and show your total check-ins and stickers respectively.
GetGlue is coming off a strong summer in which it hit 1.5 million users and saw a 130 percent rise in the number of monthly check-ins. The service also rolled out a new-look version of its iPhone app and announced integration with DirecTV to let you check-in from your TV.
