‘Dexter Slice Of Life’ Game Is Now Live On Facebook
A new social game for fans of the hit series Dexter has launched on Facebook with the premiere of the program’s sixth season. The game, which we reported on in July, airs new game episodes the day after each episode from season 6 airs.
Throughout the game you can play as Dexter or create your own customized “Dark Passenger.” In order to advance, you have to stalk people and complete missions – but the best part is the game’s social features and ever-changing game play. The game follows the events of season 6 so when an episode airs, new events will occur in the game.
The game’s social features are unique because they occur regardless of if your friends are online or not. Friends develop evil in-game personas which play out even when they’re not currently logged into the game and you need to silence them to advance in various missions. You can also use your character for good, protecting the weak and downtrodden. The unique “real-time stealth” game play captures Dexter’s precision and careful method of stalking his victims.
Marc Fernandez, EVP of Development at Ecko|Code spoke on the launch of the game. He said:
Dexter Slice of Life shows how social play online is evolving - this is a deep transmedia experience that both gamers and fans of the show will love. People can play anytime as Dexter or their own custom made ‘Dark Passenger.’ Dexter is a brilliant, complex show that asks as many questions as it answers, and this game is an extension of that.
Dexter Slice of Life isn’t like a typical casual Facebook game. It’s built on a large 3D multiplayer client that will satisfy both hardcore and casual gamers alike. As an extension of the television show, Showtime is hoping the launch can extend their fanbase to different mediums. If Ecko|Code’s game follows the intricacies of Dexter’s constantly unfolding storyline, it won’t be surprising to see many fans logging into the game to get their fix.
