Boy Arrested After Friend Posts On Facebook Wall Looking For Drugs
Police monitor Facebook – that’s just something that every drug wielding, underage partygoer needs to know. Sadly, they don’t. Teens are constantly putting way, way too much information on the social networking site and are completely shocked when they actually get in trouble.
Part of the reason many people hide Wall posts from the public is because you can never be sure what your friends are going to post. Unfortunately for this teen, his privacy settings were not up to par and he was arrested and charged with drug possession after a Facebook friend posted on his wall saying he needed drugs. If that wasn’t enough evidence for police, they also recognized the 2 kids from a video of a drug party that occurred in June called “Reefer party for my birthday.” Sounds like a brilliant party idea for a bunch of minors (not to mention it’s totally illegal), right?
Justin J. Cervera was arrested after he was spotted by a police officer who was patrolling in August. The officer recognized both him and the other teen from when he was a police school liaison officer at the boys’ high school. He had seen the Facebook post earlier in the day where one of the students asked for drugs and Cervera told the boy to call him. When police stopped the pair on the street, Cervera was caught with a prescription bottle filled with drugs. He was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and marijuana and faces up to 4 years in prison and $11,000 in fines. Like you’d expect, the teen quickly changed his privacy settings on Facebook and most information is now private.
Facebook is a quick giveaway and now that privacy settings are easier to understand because of the new system of lists, there’s no excuse to have incriminating information available to the public; however, it’s a fact that many teens choose to ignore them. In May a 17-year-old boy was arrested for ranking 50 female classmates by hotness and reported sexual exploits on Facebook, as if he thought no one would ever see or get mad at that list. Another teen was arrested that same month for posting nude photos of his girlfriend on Facebook after she wouldn’t have sex with him and a group of teens were charged with assault a month earlier after one of them posted a video of a fist fight to the social network.
fuck no he shouldnt be arested facebook as evidence get out of here 4th amendment rights plus what if the kid was simply “joking” ths all he would have to say lol
Um…”Cervera was caught with a prescription bottle filled with drugs”.
