Twitter Adds SSL Security Feature To Tweet And Follow Buttons
Twitter has given developers and publishers a way to add the Tweet and Follow buttons to secure HTTPS pages on websites. The company has enabled SSL support for the buttons in its API.
Websites which have secure pages will now be able to add Twitter’s buttons to those pages, allowing users to share content and follow relevant Twitter accounts without having to navigate away from HTTPS pages. What this means is that it will be a little easier for websites with HTTPS pages to track social engagement through analytics tools. The launch of this support is timely given that Twitter announced details of its Twitter Web Analytics tool Tuesday.
This marks the latest Twitter measure designed to help protect its users and their data, following the launch of HTTPS support back in March. Last month, Twitter started to switch users to using the secure Web protocol by default.
