Social Network Tagged Acquires Gaming Discovery Service WeGame
Tagged, the social network for meeting new people, has acquired San Francisco-based startup, WeGame.
WeGame, which was founded in 2007, is a social gaming discovery service. Users can instantly download hundreds of games, take screenshots and share via Facebook and Twitter.
Tagged, which has a number of social games in its roster, has not revealed how they plan to use WeGame. They will reveal more information in the coming months, but until then, WeGame users can continue to use the service as normal.
Greg Tseng, Tagged’s CEO, spoke about the acquisition. He said:
WeGame has built a compelling social gaming and discovery business. Their creative direction and expert execution will help further accelerate our growth trajectory at Tagged. The WeGame team will immediately begin to contribute to our product and game studio teams, helping extend our industry leadership in social discovery.
WeGame isn’t Tagged’s only acquisition this year. In April, the company acquired the instant messaging client Digsby. In addition to the acquisition, Tagged also launched a new mobile site and updated their iPhone and Android apps that same month.
The financial terms of Tagged’s acquisition are undisclosed.
