Social commerce network Lockerz has acquired video curation service Vodpod and related assets from Vodpod’s parent company Remixation. Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, but the acquisition does not include social video app ShowYou, which was created by Vodpod and will continue to be run by Remixation.

Through this deal, Lockerz users will be able to create personalized, shareable channels containing video content from across the Web, including the Lockerz library of videos (which you can earn Lockerz points, or PTZ, for watching). You can earn PTZ for setting up video channels on Lockerz — PTZ can be redeemed for discounts in the Lockerz Shop. Lockerz will add more features and functionality in the future, including the ability to earn PTZ through your channels and deeper social integration with other Lockerz members.

Vodpod allows users and website owners to pull and sort videos into channels from across the Web — this functionality will continue to be available for users and website publishers.

The video section of Lockerz is one of the most popular areas of the service and has generated almost 400 million views over the last year. To date, Lockerz and Vodpod have received more than 1 billion total video views.

Lockerz, which raised $36 million in a funding round last month, acquired Plixi (Lockerz later launched its own photo-sharing app) earlier this year and social sharing platform AddToAny in July. This latest acquisition should help Lockerz help its users, partners and advertisers extend their reach while increasing user engagement among its target audience — those aged 13 to 30.
