GetGlue Launches DirecTV Integration, Check In From Your TV
Entertainment check-in service GetGlue has partnered with DirecTV in what’s the company’s first integration with a major pay TV provider.
GetGlue has been integrated into DirecTV’s Social TV App, which allows you to check-in with your remote control on your actual TV — no computer or smartphone required. The integration also allows you to see what your friends are watching and switch between those shows easily.
GetGlue’s iPhone app, which was recently updated with a new interface along with several new features, has been updated again to cater to DirecTV customers. The app will now detect and pair with televisions that have DirecTV set-top-boxes. GetGlue can automatically detect what’s on TV by pairing with the box so you can check in and share more quickly from your iPhone.
This partnership is a big step forward for GetGlue which is coming off of an amazing summer. The service recently celebrated reaching 1.5 million users and a 130 percent rise in check-ins. A partnership like one with DirecTV will help the service reach even more users.

In addition to the newly updated iPhone app and on-screen integration, GetGlue has been integrated into DirecTV’s iPad app allowing you to directly check in via your iPad. DirecTV customers will also have access to exclusive GetGlue rewards when they check in through DirecTV’s Social TV App, iPad app or GetGlue’s iPhone app
GetGlue isn’t the first entertainment check-in service to partner with DirecTV. Miso recently added a DirecTV integration which syncs episodes you are watching to their app.
