WARNING: ‘Her Life is Over because of this crazy Video’ Scam Spreads Through Facebook
Scams offering unbelievable videos are nothing new. Just last week we reported on a scam that promised to offer a disgusting video of a spider under someone’s skin and a scam that claimed to have a video of Casey Anthony confessing. These types of scams play on our curiosity — we want to see something unbelievable, but most of the time these videos are just not real. Scammers constantly create these unbelievable video scams in hopes that we’ll keep clicking.
This Facebook scam is no different. It will show up as a post in your News Feed that reads “Her Life is Over because of this crazy Video” with the description “OMG this is embaarrassing!” Who doesn’t love embarrassing videos? Too bad there isn’t actually one behind the link.
If you click on the post, you will be lead to a page with the URL tvnewsforyou.info; however, it looks similar to a Facebook page. The scammers are trying to trick you. They ask you to click “Jaa” twice to confirm that you are over the age of 13. Clicking this will spread the post to your Wall. A survey will also pop up offering a free $1,000 Walmart gift card.
Surveys like this are almost always too good to be true, so don’t enter any personal information. It could put you at risk for identity theft, not to mention that visiting sites like this could download malware to your computer if you click on links.
