Formspring Rolls Out Verification Program, Favorites
Formspring, the question and answer service, has recently given users a new way to connect with celebrities, musicians and other notable users by listing them in their “Formspring Favorites” section on the right side of the screen.
Since their launch 18 months ago the service has put almost all of their effort towards connecting friends, but don’t you already know a lot about your friends? It’s your favorite band, comedian or movie star that you probably have tons of questions for, and now Formspring has switched their focus towards connecting those users to their fans.
Notable users include Wilmer Valderrama, Margaret Cho, Enrique Iglesias and Taking Back Sunday’s Adam Lazzara. To avoid imposters, Formspring appears to have taken a page out of Twitter‘s playbook and added a verification badge to these user accounts so we know their answers are the real thing. Verified users have the ability to share media like YouTube videos so they can answer questions via video blog or just share their favorite content on the Web.
Formspring has been steadily improving their service and in May they rolled out a new update that allowed users to view all their question’s answers in one place. In April they went through a major site redesign and in March they began filtering out certain negative questions and answers as part of an anti-bullying campaign.
