StumbleUpon Mobile Hits Record High During Super Bowl
With most homes having a plethora of gadgets and gizmos available, sitting down to watch the biggest sporting event of the year with complete concentration is becoming increasingly difficult. Case in point: StumbleUpon saw its heaviest-ever usage on its mobile apps during Sunday’s game.
Roberto Sanabria, the company’s “StumbleStats Ninja”, compiled some stats surrounding activity on the social discovery service on Super Bowl Sunday. At around 9:50 EST — a few minutes before the end of the game — Sanabria says there were 41 stumbles per second on mobile devices, smashing the previous record by 10%.
Interestingly, while men are generally heavier users of StumbleUpon than women, that trend reversed during the game when female users out-Stumbled their male counterparts. However, their StumbleUpon usage also dipped during the Black Eyed Peas’ half-time show.
To no-one’s surprise though, Stumbling decreased during the game across both mobile and PC, when compared to the previous Sunday.
Having been a big fan of StumbleUpon for several years, I’m glad to see that the service is continuing to grow. Here’s hoping that by the time Super Bowl XLVI rolls around, that StumbleUpon mobile usage record has been broken many more times, and that the 49ers are playing (some wishful thinking on my part there).
